Wakan Village In South Al Batinah Attracts Over 27,000 Visitors

According to official statistics, Nakhal: Between January and July 2025, the Wakan Village in Wadi Mistal, Nakhal Wilayat, South Al Batinah Governorate, received 27,428 tourists, up from 24,093 during the same period in 2024.

Dr. AlMu'tasim Nasser AlHilali, Director of Heritage and Tourism in the South Al Batinah Governorate, informed Oman News Agency (ONA) that the village's various tourist sites have established it as a year-round sustainable destination.

He observed that summer tourism is high in the community due to its pleasant climate and seasonal fruit crops, which begin with apricots in June, followed by peaches, then figs and pomegranates in July, and three varieties of native grapes (AlMaqdmani, AlMalasi, and sour grapes) in August. The village's third café, View Wakan, has recently opened, increasing visitor numbers, particularly on weekends and public holidays.

The community provides unusual activities such as lodging at its guesthouse and trekking through old agricultural and mountain routes, which are becoming increasingly popular among foreign visitors.

Wakan also has a number of historical monuments, including an old mosque, historic communities, and agricultural terraces that are hundreds of years old.
