GCC Forum For Green Mobility To Begin On 31 August

Salalah: The GCC Forum on Green Mobility will begin on August 31, 2025, in the Wilayat of Salalah, the Governorate of Dhofar. The conference will gather professionals and specialists from all across the GCC region to discuss ways to enhance environmental sustainability in the transportation sector and encourage the adoption of clean, alternative means of transportation.

The conference, organized by the Ministry of Transportation, Communications, and Information Technology, seeks to facilitate an exchange of experiences and knowledge among GCC countries in sustainable transport and environmental technology. It will also underline essential rules and initiatives that help to achieve netzero targets and lower carbon emissions in the transportation industry.

The forum's activities began with a virtual GCC workshop organized by the Ministry of Transportation, Communication, and Information Technology in collaboration with the GCC General Secretariat. Representatives from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait worked together to develop practical outcomes and joint implementation strategies to help the transition to sustainable mobility while also promoting regional environmental and economic integration.

As part of the associated events, Dhofar Governorate will conduct recreational and awareness programs for youngsters on August 15–16. These will include a marathon and a dedicated cycling track, all in a secure environment under the supervision of professionals. The goal is to promote a culture of green mobility from an early age and raise awareness about healthy and sustainable lives.

Before the primary conference, a series of special workshops will be held, including the Gulf Youth Lead Change training at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Compound for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah and the Green Corridors for Gulf Ports workshop. Several agreements will be inked at the event, clearing the path for strategic collaborations in the sector of green transportation.
