CPA Recovers OMR 3,200 In Gold Jewelry Dispute

Muscat: The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has reimbursed OMR 3,200 to a consumer following a conflict with a gold and jewelry business in the Muscat Governorate over differences in agreed-upon requirements for custom-made goods.

According to the CPA, the client had agreed with the store—which specializes in gold, silver, and gemstones—to create custom jewelry worth OMR 6,615, paying an advance of OMR 3,200. However, upon examination, the customer noticed that the gold carat and carvings did not correspond with the specifications agreed upon with the seller.

The matter was reported to the CPA, which conducted an inquiry and validated the consumer's assertions. The Authority then contacted the provider and took the required legal action in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, resulting in a complete refund of the advance payment.
