'Rummana' Event In Jabal Akhdar Draws Nearly 9,000 Visitors In July

Muscat: The third version of the Rummana event, which is being held at Janayen Farm in the Wilayat of Jabal Akhdar, has received 8,953 visitors between July 4 and July 31. The event is a collaborative effort supported by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, the Tipi Company, and the Agricultural Tourism Development Company (Janayen), and will run until September 27.

The activity is part of a comprehensive plan to turn Jabal Al Akhdar's natural and cultural resources into unique tourism destinations. This initiative aims to improve Oman's status as a popular tourist destination, encourage sustainable agricultural tourism, and empower rural populations by utilizing agricultural resources to enrich the tourism experience.

One of the event's most popular attractions is the fig harvesting experience. Visitors can take guided tours with farmers, gather figs from trees, and take souvenir photographs, providing a one-of-a-kind and educational experience for families and anybody interested in local agriculture.

Rummana provides a range of activities for people of all ages during the Jabal Akhdar Festival. Visitors can participate in live harvests of pomegranates, figs, and pears, as well as weekly educational seminars and interactive shows in the open-air amphitheater. The celebration also includes a separate entertainment area for youngsters, a Farmers' Market with fresh local food, and the Calling event, which promotes local collaboration. Visitors may also choose from a variety of cafes and restaurants serving regional Omani cuisine from the Al Jabal Al Akhdar region.
