New Delhi: According to an official statement from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the 11th session of the India-Russia Working Group on Modernization and Industrial Cooperation took place here on Wednesday as part of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological, and Cultural Cooperation.
On the Indian side, the meeting at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, was cochaired by Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Amardeep Singh Bhatia, while on the Russian side, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Alexey Gruzdev, cochaired.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the conference assessed progress made since the 10th session and offered a chance to promote collaboration in important sectors. Updates from the divisions on modernization, mining, fertilizers, and railway traffic were provided, as well as new opportunities for collaboration.
Key emphasis areas were collaboration in aerospace science and technology, which included the construction of a contemporary wind tunnel facility, the manufacture of small aircraft piston engines, and joint development in carbon fibre technology, additive manufacturing, and 3D printing. Both parties explored potential for rare and important mineral extraction, underground coal gasification, and the development of modern industrial infrastructure.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, both sides welcomed greater cooperation in aluminium, fertilisers, and rail transit, as well as skills training and technology transfer in mining equipment, exploration, and industrial and household trash management.
The meeting ended with the cochairs signing the Protocol for the 11th Session, reaffirming India-Russia strategic connection and shared commitment to extend commercial and economic ties.
Approximately 80 participants from both parties attended the event, including top government officials, subject specialists, and business executives.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defence Ministry said that Deputy Defence Minister Colonel General Aleksandr Fomin met with Indian Ambassador Vinay Kumar in Moscow, indicating increased cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the two parties addressed current issues of bilateral military collaboration and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening specialized cooperation in the form of a particularly privileged strategic partnership.
It stated that the meeting took place in a pleasant and inviting environment, which is characteristic of Russian-Indian relations.
