"Safe Investment Environment" Meeting Discusses Developing Business Environment In Dhofar

Salalah: On Monday, the Wilayat of Salalah in the Dhofar Governorate hosted an opening conference called Safe Investment Environment.

The conference, organized by the Public Prosecution and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), attempted to improve the commercial environment through coordinated institutional efforts and to develop ideals of openness and regulatory compliance. This is intended to help build a secure and attractive investment climate.

The gathering was attended by several ministers and officials, members of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Board of Directors, investors, business owners, firm executives, and people interested in legal and economic issues.

Nasr Khamis Al Sawai, the Public Prosecutor, stated that the Public Prosecution intends to broaden its collaboration with national organizations in order to raise legal awareness in the commercial sector and safeguard the business environment from illegal activities. This, he believes, enhances justice and promotes economic stability.

Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Board of Directors, stated that the meeting is part of a strategic collaboration with the Public Prosecution to create a legislative framework that encourages investment in Oman and supports efforts to attract domestic and foreign capital.

Naif Hamed Fadhil, director of the chamber's branch in Dhofar Governorate, said the meeting provides a venue for institutional discussion on how to improve the investment climate in the governorate. He emphasized that Dhofar is full with prospects, making it an appealing investment location for a wide range of industries.

Assistant Public Prosecutor Khalfan Said Al Maawali published a working paper that analyzed criminal responsibility under the Commercial Companies Law, the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Law, and the compliance procedures that firms must follow.

The conference featured a dialogue session with the Public Prosecutor and the Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The workshop addressed major legislative concerns confronting the commercial sector and offered realistic recommendations for improving the legal climate and increasing Oman's investment attractiveness.

This meeting is one of a series of activities aimed at integrating governance and transparency ideals, as well as improving inter-institutional cooperation. This corresponds with Oman Vision 2040's goals of strengthening the commercial sector and promoting the national business environment.
