Meeting Discusses Efforts To Mitigate Environmental Disasters

Muscat: During a joint meeting with a team from the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), the Environment Authority reviewed efforts to strengthen national measures to mitigate the effects of environmental catastrophes and climate change.

The meeting emphasized the necessity of improving national readiness and creating capabilities to cope with environmental and natural catastrophes. It also looked at Oman's ongoing efforts in environmental and natural resource conservation, as well as the country's strategy for incorporating risk reduction principles into environmental policy, urban planning, and sustainable development.

Both sides emphasized the importance of building strategic relationships, sharing knowledge and successful experiences, and creating joint action plans to improve the resilience of ecological, social, and economic systems in the face of future challenges.

This trip exemplifies Oman's desire to expand its global presence and ties in environmental sustainability, climate change mitigation, and natural catastrophe management, in accordance with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
