Moscow: Maria Zakharova, Russia's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, reacted strongly to the sanctions and limitations imposed by Washington, which have affected countries worldwide. She described it as a neocolonial agenda, claiming that politically motivated economic pressure was applied to individuals who took an independent path on the global stage.
Zakharova's comments were in response to a media question about the US Administration's tightening of tariffs.
When asked how Russia viewed Washington's policy of erecting tariff barriers against key foreign policy allies in the Global South, Zakharova replied, "Sanctions and limitations have, unfortunately, become a defining characteristic of the current historical period, affecting countries across the globe. " Unable to accept the loss of its authority in an emerging multipolar international order, Washington continues to pursue a neocolonial agenda, using politically motivated economic pressure to countries that choose an independent path on the international scene.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson went on to say that this strategy contradicts the fundamental ideas of free trade, which were formerly promoted by Western countries. Instead, we currently observe politically motivated protectionism and the arbitrary imposition of tariff obstacles. Brazil, our strategic ally in Latin America and the Caribbean, is one of the primary victims of this strategy. Such actions by the United States are seen as a serious violation of other nations' sovereignty and an attempt to meddle in their internal affairs. Aside from these issues, the policy has the potential to slow global economic growth, disrupt supply chains, and exacerbate the fragmentation of the international economic order.
She also stated that we strongly believe that no trade wars or sanctions can stop the natural flow of history. A diverse group of partners, likeminded nations, and allies, particularly among the Global South and, most importantly, within BRICS, support us in this viewpoint.
Zakharova's final comments emphasized that Russia is eager to strengthen cooperation in order to oppose unlawful unilateral sanctions, thereby assisting in the establishment of a multipolar, just, and equitable global order.
We are eager to work with them to oppose unlawful unilateral sanctions and help establish a genuinely multipolar, just, and equitable global order.

Trump stated on Truth Social that India is not just buying enormous volumes of Russian Oil, but is also reselling the majority of it on the Open Market for substantial profits. They don't care how many Ukrainians are slain by the Russian War Machine. As a result, I will significantly increase India's tariff to the United States. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
India has defended its sovereign right to formulate energy policy based on national interest.
On Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) launched a vigorous defense of the country's choice to acquire oil from Russia, amid criticism from the United States and the European Union.
According to the MEA, India's imports from Russia are motivated by necessity and designed to provide Indian consumers with consistent and inexpensive energy supplies.
The MEA termed the criticism of India's trade policy as unfounded and irrational, adding that India would take appropriate measures to protect its national interests and economic security.
