The International Solar Alliance is a global effort created in 2015 by India and France during COP21 in Paris. It has 124 Member and Signatory States. The Alliance collaborates with governments to enhance energy access and security around the world, advocating for solar power as a long-term path to a clean energy future.
ISA's aim is to encourage solar energy investments while decreasing technology and financing costs. It encourages the use of solar energy in agriculture, healthcare, transportation, and power generation. ISA Member Countries are driving change by developing laws and rules, exchanging best practices, establishing shared standards, and attracting finance.
Through this work, ISA has identified, designed, and tested new business models for solar projects; assisted governments in making their energy laws and policies solar-friendly through Ease of Doing Solar research and advisory; pooled demand for solar technology from various countries; and driven down costs; improved access to finance by reducing risks and making the sector more appealing to private investment; increased access to solar training, data, and insights for solar engineers and energy policymakers.
ISA seeks to transform people's lives, provide clean, dependable, and inexpensive energy to communities throughout the world, promote sustainable development, and improve quality of life by advocating for solarpowered solutions.
On December 6, 2017, 15 nations signed and ratified the ISA Framework Agreement, making ISA the first worldwide intergovernmental organisation headquartered in India.
ISA is collaborating with multilateral development banks (MDBs), development financial institutions (DFIs), private and public sector groups, civil society, and other international institutions to implement cost-effective and revolutionary solar energy solutions, particularly in the least developed countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), according to the statement.
