Oman Participates In 164th Session Of GCC Ministerial Council

Kuwait: The Sultanate of Oman attended the 164th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council in Kuwait, which addressed current advances in joint Gulf cooperation in the political, economic, security, and development sectors to promote integration and prosperity in the area.

Oman's delegation was led by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and the meeting was presided over by Abdullah bin Ali AlYahya, Kuwait's Foreign Minister and current Council President, in the presence of GCC foreign ministers and the GCC Secretary-General.

Concerning the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, delegation chiefs underlined the importance of stepping up attempts in coordination with the international community to stop Israeli aggression, safeguard Palestinian civilians, guarantee unrestricted humanitarian aid delivery, and facilitate the safe return of displaced people. They highlighted their strong demand for the withdrawal of Israeli soldiers from Gaza and all occupied Palestinian areas in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

The Council commended Qatar, Egypt, and the United States' aggressive efforts to achieve a full ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

Furthermore, the Council hailed the discussions between the United States and Iran, praising Oman's participation in hosting and facilitating these high-level meetings. It backed these diplomatic attempts, stressing the significance of communication in settling problems amicably, and hoped that the meetings would help regional and global security and stability.

The Council appreciated the formation of a new Syrian government and regarded positively US President Donald Trump's decision to lift sanctions on Syria, as well as the United Kingdom's intention to amend or cancel some sanctions.

The council emphasized the need of assisting attempts to restore security and stability while maintaining Syria's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
