Kuwait: On Sunday, the Sultanate of Oman attended the 123rd meeting of the GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee in Kuwait. Oman's delegation was headed by Sultan Salim Al Habsi, the Finance Minister.
The meeting addressed the outcomes of the GCC Central Bank Governors Committee's 84th meeting, the GCC Customs Union Authority meetings, the 14th meeting of the GCC Tax Departments Committee, and the 42nd meeting of the Gulf Common Market Committee.
The meeting also addressed the impact of the recent increase in US tariff rates on Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee considered data on the Gulf Common Market, the status of negotiations on free trade accords between GCC countries and international organizations, the outcome of signing and ratification of the agreement on the GCC Payment Linkage System, studies and projects under review by the Office of the GCC Economic and Development Affairs Authority, and updates on a programme to achieve economic unity among GCC nations, among other issues of mutual interest.
On the margins of the conference, the GCC Secretary General unveiled a media effort called All the Gulf Is a Homeland. The campaign aims to increase awareness about equal economic and social rights and advantages that GCC individuals have inside the framework of the Gulf Common Market. It also demonstrates the GCC countries' dedication to the idea of Gulf citizenship.
