NCD Celebrates Conclusion Of 9th Parallel Programme On Enhancing Local Content

Muscat: The National Defence College (NDC) today completed the ninth edition of the concurrent programme on local content consolidation strategies, titled "Mechanisms for Enhancing Local Content. "

The final ceremony was hosted at the Academy of Strategic and Defence Studies under the supervision of Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi, Commander of the National Defence College. Senior officials of the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF), as well as civilian military and security services and company CEOs, attended the event.

The closing session featured seminars and discussion panels on many elements of local content management, as well as suggestions and visions for the program's topics.

At the end of the event, Al Shidi presented certificates of appreciation to exceptional individuals who contributed to the program's goals.

The parallel program aimed to improve the leadership abilities and competencies of officials in government departments, senior SAF officers, and other military and security services.

The program addressed the following topics: the significance of local content to the national economy; the legal framework for encouraging local content in the Sultanate of Oman; an examination of regulatory and procedural impediments to the execution of local content localization policy; the best legal practices in promoting local content; benefiting from international experiences in establishing an effective local content policy; the role of major corporations in promoting local content; the role of strategic partnerships in promoting local content; possibilities for localizing local content in the military and security sectors; localizing technology to promote local content; challenges to the localization of technology related to the promotion of local content; and the experiences of GCC states in using technology to promote local content.

The closing ceremony for the parallel programme's ninth edition was attended by top officials from the SAF, other military and security organizations, and NCD personnel.
