India Ranks Among Top Six Nations Globally In 6G Patent Filings

New Delhi: According to Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, the Minister of State for Communications, India is among the top six nations in the world in 6G patent filing.

The government has granted more than Rs 300 crore (USD 35. 14 million) for more than 111 research projects, indicating a key step toward the goal of implementing 6G technology.

According to the minister, 6G would function on TeraHertz frequency bands, allowing for data speeds of up to one terabit per second, which is 100 times faster than 5G.

According to the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), the implementation of 6G technology would generate completely new industries and transform existing ones, with an estimated contribution of Rs 85,37,000 crore (USD 1 trillion) to India's economy by 2035.

During the session, the minister expressed trust in India's tremendous skill pool and underlined that there is no reason why the nation should not lead in 6G.

He also emphasized that native 6G development will provide safe communications, developed and managed within India, bolstering the country's status in the worldwide technology industry.

Furthermore, this year's Convergence India & 10th Smart Cities India Expo will highlight breakthroughs in 5G and 6G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, IoT, Cybersecurity, Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), Embedded Technology, Fintech, Urban Mobility, and Smart City Solutions.
