Forum Discusses Strategic Foresight Culture Amid Economic, Technological Transformations

Muscat: The Future Foresight Forum began on Monday at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), exploring the strategic foresight culture in light of economic and technological changes.

The Global Development Academy for Training and the AlMarji' Academy for Consultancy and Administrative Development sponsor the three-day event in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and the Omani Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).

The opening ceremony took place under the patronage of Eng. Hamoud Salim AlSaadi, Second Deputy Chairman of the OCCI Board of Directors and Chairman of the Chamber's branch in South Al Batinah Governorate, and included several specialists and speakers from eight countries.

The forum focused on how institutions may help create successful strategies by promoting a culture of strategic foresight, strengthening national capabilities, and improving business preparedness to respond to fast changing economic and technological environments. The goal of the event is to enhance the business climate, encourage invention, attract investment, and establish successful public-private collaborations.

Abdullah Mohammed AlSaidi, CEO of the Global Development Academy for Training, stated that fast technological and economic developments necessitate a move from responsive to proactive methods, with an institutional framework centered on analysis, innovation, and strategic decision-making.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdulsalam Yahya, an economic expert at the OCCI, presented Oman's economic outlook in light of global economic and geopolitical changes. He emphasized that navigating these changes effectively requires a long-term strategic vision and constant revisions to economic policies to ensure resilience and adaptability to regional and global developments.

The first day of the forum included expert panel debates on important topics such as economic trends in light of geopolitical changes, artificial intelligence as a tool for future foresight, institutional governance, and the digital economy.

On the second day, the focus will be on utilizing technology to improve institutional effectiveness and drive innovation, the role of foresight leadership in defining economic development pathways, and Oman Vision 2040's impact on future foresight processes. The final day will focus on techniques for developing a digital economy, foresight horizons, and leadership dialogue.
