Salalah: The Dhofar Municipal Council examined recommendations and proposals from the Ministry of Interior to improve municipal councils' involvement in sustainable development during its meeting on Monday. The talks centered on improving collaboration with appropriate authorities and involving the council in ranking development initiatives.
The conference, chaired by HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar and Chairman of the Municipal Council, praised the recent release of Dhofar's complete plan, communication strategy, and promotional identity. These were created in conjunction with governmental, commercial, and community stakeholders to speed development by a shared and integrated vision.
The council also welcomed professionals from the Dhofar Directorate General of Consumer Protection, who gave a graphic summary of the directorate's major strategies and activities for 2024 and 2025.
Furthermore, the conference addressed the council's key committee meeting results, including suggestions to build recreational spaces in residential areas and a public park in the Wilayat of Taqa, as well as community efforts to promote economic and social progress.
The Governorate Development Committee briefed members on the findings of a field trip to the Wadi Dawkah Frankincense site, during which they examined project progress and exchanged ideas on how to improve its economic viability.
The council also looked at replies from the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, the Directorate General of Housing and Urban Planning, and the Ministry of Health on important topics affecting the governorate, as well as steps taken to resolve them.
