Muscat: The first Governorates Ambassadors Forum will begin on Tuesday under the supervision of Muscat Governor Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi and will be attended by Engineer Badr bin Salem Al Mamari, Tender Board Secretary General, and senior officials.
The Tender Board's General Secretariat will lead this event, which will be held in Muscat Governorate for the first time.
This will be one of a series of seminars for the governorate's ambassadors, according to a prior strategy overseen by the Secretariat.
From May 20 to 22, specialists and practitioners in project management and administrative positions from various Oman governorates will attend the workshop.
The theme of the forum is 'We are united by purpose,' and it aims to encourage institutional integration and the sharing of best practices in contracts and tenders, therefore contributing to the government's goals of decentralization, empowerment of governorates, and balanced development in Oman.
This program features an official opening ceremony with welcome addresses from the Muscat Governorate and the General Secretariat of the Tender Board.
This will be followed by specialised sessions and workshops examining the governorates' experiences in project and contract management, focusing on common issues and potential solutions.
The sessions will begin with a workshop on "The Contract Governance and Tender Book," which will focus on strengthening legal governance and establishing contractual balance in government bids management.
A paper titled "Project Preparation Methodology in the Annual Plan" will outline the methodological framework for planning projects and ensuring their compatibility with national goals, increasing resource efficiency, and improving implementation quality.
This forum's programme includes a session titled "Documentary Course and Performance Platform," which focuses on governance and reducing change instructions to improve the efficiency of managing government projects. The first day ends with two workshops on "Local Content" and "Price Indicators. "
The first emphasizes the significance of promoting local content in order to strengthen the national economy, while the second focuses on the Price Indicators Department's function in tracking and evaluating prices in different governorates in order to help decision-making.
On the second day, the programme will include a field trip to significant ongoing projects in Muscat Governorate.
They include the Oman Botanic Garden, Sultan Haitham City, Al Ansab Street, Al Jafnayn, and the Green Walk, all of which aim to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application while also facilitating the exchange of field experiences.
The forum will end on the third day with the presentation of numerous specialized working documents by specialists from Muscat Governorate and the Tender Board's General Secretariat to discuss key trends and future opportunities in project management and government procurement.
The forum helps local officials improve their skills and competencies, as well as promote local governance. This represents the government's aim of increasing openness and efficiency in government performance as part of national attempts to develop institutions.
