Muscat: To promote public-private collaborations and empower national talent in the industrial sector, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion signed multiple agreements with government and private groups in Muscat on Monday.
The agreements included a commitment between the Ministry, the North Al Batinah Governor's Office, and Jindal Steel to build an industrial training center in the governorate. The center's goal is to qualify national talent and improve their preparedness for the job market.
Another financing agreement was reached between the Ministry and Daleel Petroleum to build the Tasnee' manufacturing platform, a specialized electronic platform that connects industrial sector purchases and contracts for local products. This effort aims to improve supply chain effectiveness and raise local value-added content.
Furthermore, the Ministry has signed a cooperation agreement with the Global Retail Company, which will provide 300 training, qualification, and employment opportunities for the national workforce, including 100 direct employment opportunities with training and 200 training opportunities associated with employment. This initiative seeks to increase the presence of national workforce in the labor market.
Dr. Saleh Said Massan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, stated that these accords are an important step toward improving national industrial capabilities. He emphasized that these efforts support the achievement of the Industrial Strategy 2040 goals, which aim to create a diversified industrial sector driven by knowledge and technology.
He went on to say that the Ministry is working to convert the industrial sector's strategic goals into concrete projects and activities that will help to increase added value, diversify industrial activities, improve industrial exports, attract quality investments, and boost investor confidence in the industrial business environment.
Eng. Khalid Salim Al Qasabi, Director General of Industry at the Ministry, stated that these programs are developed in collaboration with specialized organizations to ensure that educational outcomes match the demands of the industrial market. This ensures compliance with the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and swift economic changes, contributing to the development of a qualified national workforce capable of operating industrial facilities, increasing production efficiency, and improving local and worldwide competitiveness.
The signing ceremony also saw the debut of Oman Cables Industry's training programs, which are designed to serve as a successful example of industrial training.
Several ministers, high-ranking officials, and representatives from pertinent organizations attended the event.
