Rare Wildlife Species In Al Dakhiliyah Spotted

Nizwa: In an ongoing endeavor to safeguard biodiversity and wildlife, the Environment Authority has observed multiple endangered species in newly identified habitats located in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, utilizing advanced tracking technologies such as camera traps.

The surveillance initiatives revealed the existence of the Arabian lynx, a wildcat of medium size celebrated for its remarkable hunting skills and agility. The Arabian tahr, a distinct species of mountain goat, along with the Arabian wolf, known for its resilience in arid and semi-arid habitats, were also recorded.

These observations signify a revitalization of ecosystems and highlight the effectiveness of the authority’s conservation programs, aiding in the maintenance of ecological equilibrium and the responsible management of natural assets.

Eng. Ahmed Salim Al Amiri, the Director of the Environment Department within Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, remarked that these findings arise from field assessments and the application of contemporary technology, consistent with a national strategy focused on wildlife preservation and ecosystem sustainability.

Al Amiri underscored the vital importance of local communities in bolstering environmental initiatives, emphasizing the need for adherence to regulations designed to shield wildlife to ensure that these natural assets are preserved for generations to come.
