London: Following a tough Test series against India, England have turned their focus to the Ashes in Australia later this year, and allrounder Chris Woakes has provided good news about his rehabilitation, according to the ICC's official website.
The news would be welcomed by England, who face arch-rivals Australia in a five-Test series beginning November 21.
Woakes, who injured a dislocated shoulder while fielding in the fifth Test against India earlier this month, believes he is recuperating faster than expected.
That is definitely excellent news for me. According to the ICC's official website, Woakes told Sky Sports that this is the greatest way to look at it.
Obviously, having it out of the sling allows me to move it much better now, which is great two weeks after the incident, he stated.
I believe that as you get some movement into it, it will feel more natural. However, he stated that there is still much work to be done.
I'm going to focus on the rehab and get it as strong as possible. Ideally, not for surgery right now, but we'll see how it goes, and hopefully we can make it strong again, Woakes said.
Woakes sustained a severe injury on the first day of the series finale against India at The Oval.
Despite being forced out of the Test for the duration of the game, Woakes would stroll out to bat with his left arm in a sling on a dramatic final morning as England sought a series-clinching triumph, only to miss by six runs.
