Muscat: Today at Al Barakah Palace, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik held an audience with David Lammy, the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom.
During their meeting, they discussed the historical and strategic links between their nations, highlighting the Omani-British alliance that supports economic diversification in Oman.
David Lammy praised the Sultan's contemporary development strategies and noted their positive effects throughout the nation, reiterating the British government's desire to enhance cooperation and investment across multiple sectors.
His Majesty the Sultan conveyed his gratitude for the collaboration and coordination between the governments of both countries, expressing his enthusiasm for the existing pathways of partnership and their future opportunities.
The UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs also addressed various regional and global issues, taking into account His Majesty’s views on these subjects. The visiting official showed particular interest in the ceasefire efforts in Gaza and the quest for peace and stability, along with the ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran facilitated by Oman, aiming to establish a new framework regarding Iran’s nuclear activities for peaceful intents.
Present at the meeting were Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister; Sir Oliver Robbins, the Permanent Under-Secretary at the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office; and Dr. Lianne Sanders, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Oman.
