7 Water, Sanitation Projects Underway In Bausher

Muscat: Nama Water Services is proceeding with its strategic projects to integrate important services and upgrade infrastructure networks across Oman's governorates and wilayats.

These projects include the sanitation sector, which encompasses sewage networks, treatment facilities, pumping stations, and treated water networks.

Among the most notable projects now being carried out in Muscat Governorate is a set of seven sanitation network projects in the Wilayat of Bausher, with a total cost of OMR123 million.

Eng. Jaafer Muhanna Al Hadrami, Project Manager for the Second Unit in Muscat Governorate, stated that the current projects in Bausher include primary and sublines for sewage networks, totaling 311 kilometers in length.

It also has a 34-kilometer potable water network, as well as other project sections and annexes.

In a statement to the Oman News Agency, he stated that the building of a sewage network in Bausher Heights is presently ongoing at a cost of OMR17. 5 million.

The project, which would benefit 60,000 individuals, is scheduled to be finished in 2028 following a four-year implementation term.

It has 68 kilometers of sewage lines, 1,100 inspection chambers, and 6,850 residential connections. He said the initiative is presently 10% finished.

He also stated that a sewage network construction project is ongoing in South Al Azaiba for OMR5. 6 million. This project will benefit 13,000 people and is planned to be finished in 2027, taking three years.

It consists of 49 kilometers of sewerage lines, 1,714 inspection chambers, and 722 household connections, with a completion rate of 12%.

Eng. Jaafer Al Hadrami stated that work on the first phase of the sanitation network restoration project in North Al Ghubrah and North Al Azaiba is ongoing, with a budget of OMR24 million.

The contract was given at the end of June and is likely to be implemented after mid-September 2025.

It is slated to be completed in 2028, with a four-year schedule. The project includes the installation of a four-kilometer major sanitation line, the replacement of 812 inspection chambers, and the restoration of the current four-kilometer main line that connects the sanitation networks of North Al Ghubrah and Al Azaiba to the pumping station, as well as the replacement of 80 deep inspection chambers.

He stated that to improve pumping operations for current projects, Nama Water Services is building a pumping station facility in Bausher and Al Ansab at a cost of OMR21 million.

The project, which is scheduled to be completed in 2028 over a four-year period, includes a pumping station with two 17-kilometer force mains and a 3.5-kilometer gravity-fed sanitation line to collect from the Al Ansab and Bawsher networks.

According to the Second Unit Project Manager at Nama Water Services in Muscat, the business is still working on the sanitation network project in Al Ansab, which is 8% complete.

It features 4,180 home connections and is planned to be finished in 2028, spread out across four years. The project includes 75.5 kilometers of sewage systems and 1,160 inspection chambers, with a total implementation cost of OMR25.7 million.

Eng. Jaafer Muhanna Al Hadrami reported that two projects are being built in the Al Khuwair region of the Wilayat of Bausher: Al Khuwair Project 1/17, which would cost OMR14.3 million.

It will have 882 home connections and is planned to be finished in 2029 over a five-year period.

The project includes 30 kilometers of sewage lines, a 15 kilometer potable water network, and a one kilometer treated water network.

The second project, he said, is the Al Khuwair Project 2/17, which would cost OMR15 million.

It will feature 858 household connections and is scheduled to be finished in 2029, taking five years. This project includes 30 kilometers of sewage networks, a 19-kilometer potable water network, and a 2.2-kilometer treated water network.
