Muscat: The Executive Council of the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) convened for its third meeting of 2025 on Thursday, under the leadership of Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Ajmi, Executive President of the board, with the presence of the Executive Council members.
During this meeting, the council deliberated on the approval of Ibra Hospital as a new training centre, which is part of the board's strategy to broaden the network of accredited training centres throughout various governorates in Oman. This initiative is designed to improve the effectiveness of training programmes and to create additional opportunities for national medical personnel in diverse locations.
The council also examined several items on its agenda, including the ratification of the minutes from the second Executive Council meeting, monitoring the decisions and action plans from earlier discussions, and assessing internal reports regarding specialty training and local fellowship programmes.
Additionally, the council evaluated the preparations for the forthcoming visit by the International Accreditation Council for Higher Medical Education, which is part of the standard evaluation processes for hospitals that have obtained institutional and training programme accreditation.
