Washington: Global leaders have praised the Sultanate of Oman for its successful facilitation of US-Iran discussions held in Muscat on Saturday.
In an official statement, the US government expressed its profound gratitude to Oman for hosting the American-Iranian negotiations.
The White House confirmed that US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff engaged in talks in Muscat with Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Abbas Araghchi, under the auspices of Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman.
The statement highlighted that the discussions were notably positive and constructive, representing a significant advancement toward achieving a mutually advantageous resolution. Both parties agreed to reconvene for another meeting the following Saturday.
The Arab Republic of Egypt expressed its approval of Oman’s role in hosting the talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States. Egypt lauded Oman’s essential and ongoing contributions to fostering political and peaceful solutions amidst the considerable challenges in the region, as well as its initiatives to alleviate political tensions.
In its statement, Egypt reaffirmed its unwavering support for Oman’s genuine efforts and all initiatives aimed at achieving political resolutions through dialogue—an approach that Egypt has consistently championed, grounded in the belief that military solutions are not viable for the crises affecting the region and that escalation only worsens the situation.
Egypt commended the collaborative spirit exhibited by both the US and Iranian representatives in their pursuit of a political resolution, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and negotiation in facilitating solutions that help ease regional tensions.
Egypt anticipates that both parties will come to an agreement that addresses their respective concerns while safeguarding the security and stability of neighboring countries in the Arabian Gulf region. The nation is optimistic that these discussions will lead to a new phase that promotes de-escalation and alleviates tensions in the area.
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has expressed its support for the Sultanate of Oman in facilitating high-level discussions between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Jordan reiterated its commitment to diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving conflicts through dialogue, thereby enhancing both regional and international security and peace. The kingdom praised Oman's efforts in facilitating these discussions, which are vital for achieving stability in the region.
Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Abbas Araghchi expressed gratitude to Oman for hosting the talks in Muscat and for its mediating role between Iran and the United States.
He remarked, "We engaged in a constructive and promising round of discussions with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in an atmosphere of mutual respect, under the mediation of Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi."
He also mentioned that both parties have agreed to continue these efforts in the days ahead.
