A tour designed to explore the historic and cultural landmarks in the wilayat of Nizwa, located in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, commenced yesterday.
This walking tour was organized by the Tourism Committee of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, in collaboration with Nizwa Club and the adventure team from Al Sumoud Team, which is affiliated with Nizwa Club.
The event attracted over 3,500 participants from various age groups and nationalities, supported by both government departments and private sector organizations.
The walk was inaugurated by Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, beginning from the parking area of Nizwa Souq. Participants traversed the route of Al Wadi Al Byadh, passing through the gardens of Daris, the historic buildings of Al Suwaiq Neighborhood, Hisn Bait Salit Neighborhood, and Falaj Daris.
The tour featured numerous archaeological and historical sites, including a visit to the Al Ghantaq area, the historic mosques of Kharaseen, Nizwa Fort, Soor Al Aqar, and other notable landmarks.
Khalfan Hamad Al Zaidi, Chairman of the Board of Nizwa Club overseeing the tour, reported that 3,608 individuals took part in the event, which proceeded without any emergencies.
The aim of the walk is to highlight the rich heritage and distinctive tourism sites in Nizwa, including its forts and falajs. He also mentioned that the next walking tour is scheduled for November 2025.
