Visual Identity Of Bahla Fort Unveiled

Manah: On Monday, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, in collaboration with UNESCO's Chair for World Heritage Management and Sustainable Tourism in the Arab Region and Marasim Tourism & Investment Company, launched the visual identity for Bahla Fort. This project seeks to showcase the fort's historical, cultural, and architectural value through a unified design.

The event occurred at the Oman Across Ages Museum.

Eng. Ali Ahmed Al Shaqsi, Director General of the Bahla Fort Management and Operation Project, said, "This fort has withstood the test of time as a testament to Omani ingenuity and a symbol of our deep-seated civilization, with its eternal glories continuing to be recounted across generations. " He stressed that the creation of Bahla Fort's official identity represents a renewed vision that integrates form and substance.

On his turn, Dr. Hussein Sulaiman Al Salmi, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the German University of Technology, revealed that the visual identity competition drew 31 entries from nine countries, making it the first such initiative for a UNESCO World Heritage site in the GCC. He emphasized Bahla Fort's 1987 UNESCO listing, acknowledging its importance as a medieval defensive fort with unique earthen architecture and antique irrigation systems.

The event, held under the patronage of Eng. Ibrahim Said Al Kharousi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Heritage, included a visual presentation highlighting Bahla Fort, its historical mosque, and adjacent amenities.

The visual identity is a strategic step toward unifying all visual communications for the fort's projects and activities, strengthening its position on Oman’s cultural tourism map while increasing public awareness of its civilizational value.
