Khasab: The Musandam Governor's Office hosted a professional underwater photography training in Khasab Wilayat on Wednesday.
The workshop attracted several divers and photographers interested in recording marine life, indicating a confluence of creativity, environment, and tourism.
The workshop is part of the governorate's preparations for the forthcoming Musandam International Diving Festival, which will take place from August 25 to 28. It aims to prepare individuals for the festival's photography contest by providing them with current skills and techniques in underwater photography. This will improve their capacity to capture spectacular photographs of Oman's aquatic ecosystems.
The workshop was led by Emirati photographer Ali Khalifa bin Thalith, Secretary-General of the Hamdan bin Mohammed International Photography Award. He described the workshop as a crucial milestone in continuing attempts to encourage and enable photographers in exploring unusual natural landscapes through their lenses. He noted Musandam's incredible marine variety and abundant seas as an excellent location for developing specialized photographic abilities, particularly underwater.
He stated that the training would help participants improve their knowledge of lighting, composition, and sophisticated approaches for capturing buried beauty in the depths. It also tries to foster an artistic sensibility, converting the experience into a graphic message that promotes environmental awareness.
It is worth mentioning that Musandam Governorate is one of Oman's most popular tourist destinations, with towering mountain landscapes merging with Gulf waters teeming with coral reefs and aquatic life, making it an ideal location for diving and underwater photography. These events will help the governorate boost its reputation on the global ecotourism map and contribute to marine conservation initiatives.
