Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has successfully stopped two separate trafficking attempts in distinct parts of the country.
In the first instance, the South Sharqiyah Governorate Police detained four Omani nationals who sought to smuggle significant amounts of tobacco. According to sources, the convicts unloaded the contraband on a beach in the Ashkhara of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali and carried it in two fish transport vehicles to disguise their illegal activity. Legal action against them is underway.
Meanwhile, Hamasa border checkpoint personnel stopped an Omani man attempting to smuggle a Vietnamese national into the nation. The individual was discovered hidden inside a expertly crafted travel storage box. Authorities have taken legal action against the culprit.
