Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is continuing its efforts to increase tourism in Dhofar Governorate, notably by conducting promotional campaigns in prominent retail malls in GCC cities. The campaign's theme is "Your Summer is Green."
The campaign focuses on the Dhofar Khareef (monsoon) season, which is one of the most popular tourism attraction times in the Sultanate of Oman. Dhofar Governorate enjoys mild weather and beautiful flora during the monsoon season, which begins on June 21 every year.
To make the most of the monsoon season, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism offers visitors comprehensive information that allows them to participate in a variety of tourism experiences and activities, such as recreational activities, nature exploration trips, and trips to heritage and archaeological sites.
The information also includes a list of direct flight alternatives to Salalah. This improves access to Dhofar Governorate's hotspots and boosts its attractiveness as a popular summer vacation. In addition to attracting tourists from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations, the information increases Dhofar's position on the regional tourism map.
The promotional activities allow for the introduction of Dhofar Governorate's tourist attractions to visitors and demonstrate the Sultanate of Oman's dedication to expanding the tourism industry throughout the year.
The Ministry launched equivalent promotional efforts during its attendance at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai in April 2025. Oman's Dhofar Municipality participated in the event, creating a specific gallery in Oman's pavilion to showcase the characteristics, landmarks, and events planned for Dhofar Khareef Season 2025.
Last month (May 2025), the Ministry held two training sessions in Riyadh and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Besides Flynas and Flyadeal, tourism sector partners from Dhofar Governorate also attended the workshops. It is important mention that throughout the Khareef (monsoon) season, direct flights will be conducted daily to Salalah Airport.
Earlier, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism conducted comparable promotional efforts in Kuwait and Bahrain as part of activities focused at promoting Dhofar Khareef Season 2025.a
