Oman Participates In UNICEF Session In New York

New York: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the events of the UNICEF Executive Board's annual meeting. The session will continue until June 13, 2025, at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

In its opening remarks during the session, the Sultanate of Oman emphasized the depth of its ongoing cooperation and relationship with UNICEF.

The address emphasized national initiatives to promote children's rights and reiterated Oman's unwavering commitment to safeguard children's rights and incorporate childcare into the core of its national policies. It also praised UNICEF's crucial contribution at all levels, particularly in crisis situations.

Oman also helped create a joint statement (on behalf of 30 nations in the humanitarian action item) expressing serious worry about the declining humanitarian circumstances for children in the Gaza Strip. The statement calls for urgent and complete protection for Palestinian children, as well as unrestricted access to humanitarian assistance.

Oman also delivered a statement (under the topic of protecting children from exploitation and abuse) in which it praised UNICEF's efforts in this area. Oman's statement underlined the significance of ongoing global collaboration to protect children from all types of abuse and exploitation. It emphasized the need of strengthening the capabilities of national monitoring, reporting, and protection systems.
