These activities reflect the Sultanate of Oman's strategic aim of establishing bridges of confidence between foreign parties, as well as its crucial position as a trustworthy mediator in regional crises.
Key Diplomatic Activities
On Sunday, under the leadership of His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman's Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Sultanate took part in the 48th Extraordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC). This virtual session, presided over by Kuwait, focused on recent regional developments.
The meeting finished with a joint declaration that highly condemned Israeli assaults on Iranian soil, calling them a clear-cut breach of national sovereignty and international law. The statement also called for immediate deescalation and a return to diplomatic talks. Oman's proactive participation in promoting dialogue on the Iranian nuclear problem was commended, with the acknowledgment that it is a critical step toward resolving the issue and improving regional security.
In addition to these coordinated activities, His Excellency Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has continued his persistent telephone calls and consultations with ministers from allied and friendly nations, as well as important international partners such as Kaya Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The dialogues focused on coordinating foreign positions and raising political and legal pressure to stop Israeli assaults immediately. The objective is to promote extensive negotiation processes that will restore stability and protect the region from the risks of future military escalation.
