Oman, India Explore Boosting Cooperation In Higher Education Fields

Muscat: On Monday, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences welcomed an academic delegation from India, represented by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), who are currently in the Sultanate of Oman.

The purpose of their visit is to investigate potential collaborations in higher education and scientific research, while also aiming to fortify strategic partnerships between academic institutions from both nations.

Dr. Said Hamad Al Rubaie, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, highlighted the significance of enhancing the academic connections and broadening the cooperative efforts between the two parties. This is intended to bolster initiatives aimed at forming knowledge-driven societies grounded in scientific inquiry, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

During their discussions, various important subjects were addressed, including prospects for cooperative research ventures in energy transition, decarbonization, emerging technologies, and artificial intelligence. The talks also included plans for capacity building through tailored workshops and training sessions, exchange programs for students and faculty, the creation of collaborative research centers of excellence, and the sharing of research facilities, such as laboratories and testing environments.

In addition, they evaluated strategies to promote entrepreneurship via business incubators and accelerators, noting the significance of merging the academic and industrial sectors to enhance the innovation ecosystem.

The delegation observed a presentation that detailed the journey of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, focusing on its strategic priorities regarding innovation, research, and entrepreneurship, and showcasing the existing programs and initiatives that align with these goals.
