Oman Honoured By UNESCO For Contributions To Water Sciences

Muscat: Oman has been recognised for its notable contributions to the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) over the years and six decades of dedication to promoting water science. The acknowledgement occurred during a ceremony hosted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) at its Paris headquarters.

This honor recognizes the MAFWR's commitment, through the Omani National Committee for the International Hydrological Program, to foster effective collaborations with international organizations. These efforts are in line with Oman's goal of attaining sustainable and comprehensive development of natural resources, particularly water, while fostering regional and international collaboration. The acknowledgment also highlights global respect for Oman's contribution to water resource management.

Suleiman bin Khalfan AlMabsali, Deputy Permanent Delegate of Oman to UNESCO, received the honorary shield.
