OHRC Organises Workshop On Preparing First National Human Rights Strategy

Muscat: The Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC) is hosting a series of workshops to examine the National Human Rights Strategy's present state in the Sultanate of Oman, with a focus on legal, regulatory, and procedural components.

The workshops' opening ceremony was conducted under the direction of Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Sa'eedi, the Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs.

The three-week sessions aim to provide the foundation for creating Oman’s first comprehensive national human rights strategy.

They aim to identify significant obstacles, investigate opportunities, and ensure that the strategy's objectives are feasible and quantifiable in the short and long term.

The workshops, which will take place until July 3, 2025, seek to assess the present status of the Sultanate of Oman in terms of civil, political, economic, social, cultural, and environmental factors. They constitute one of the fundamental steps in the creation of a “national strategic document” that reflects a specific and realistic understanding of the human rights environment in the Sultanate of Oman.

The workshops seek to evaluate the advances made in all areas of human rights by examining the legal, regulatory, and procedural facets. They prioritize clear governance and effective indicator value monitoring.

The workshops will assist you in creating realistic, time-bound strategic objectives to inform future executive plans, performance indicators, evaluations, and follow-up.
