Ministry Of Social Development Launches Child Protection Guide

Muscat: In cooperation with the UNICEF office in Muscat, the Ministry of Social Development launched Oman's "Child Protection Guide (CPG)" on Monday to improve unified national response mechanisms.

The launch event for the guide was held under the direction of Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development.

The CPG is a thorough practical reference for those working in child protection, including social workers, educators, and healthcare professionals. It brings together ideas, simplifies referral processes, and improves coordination among important stakeholders. This ensures that swift and effective action is taken when required for child protection and the provision of a safe and supportive setting for children in the Sultanate of Oman.

Sayyida Maani Abdullah Al Busaidi, Director General of Family Development at the Ministry of Social Development, stated in a speech that the CPG is a strategic move toward strengthening the coordination of all national child protection efforts, as well as equipping national personnel to professionally respond to instances of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

Practical measures

For his part, Dr. Bilal Al Kiswani, Program Director at UNICEF Oman, stated, "The CPG exemplifies our shared dedication to taking practical steps whenever children are exposed to any kind of danger. " It highlights the importance of cooperation between UNICEF and the Sultanate of Oman's Government in establishing child protection systems.

The event featured a dialogue session called "Next Steps and Training of Trainers Plan," which was led by Safia Abdullah Al Abri, Assistant Director of the Family Protection Department at the Ministry of Social Development.

The session focused on the CPG training plan, including general frameworks, fundamental ideas of the case management system, and training on the system's stages of implementation.
