Israel's military announced that it was conducting a series of assaults on the Iranian capital, Tehran, as well as other regions of Iran.
The intended targets of the assaults were not immediately revealed. The attacks occurred after Israel stated that it had intercepted a suspicious aerial target fired from Iran.
Earlier, the Iranian semiofficial news agency SNN reported that air defense systems had been engaged in central Tehran.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) also urged Iranians in two communities to leave the region surrounding Iran's Arak heavy water reactor.
Heavy water is used to cool reactors, but it may also be utilized to generate plutonium, which is another potential supply for a nuclear weapon.
The IDF has issued an urgent plea to citizens, employees, and those in the vicinity of the two Iranian cities of Arak and Khondab, as indicated on the map, to evacuate immediately before the IDF attacks military infrastructure belonging to the Iranian regime. It shared this information on social media in Arabic and Farsi.
German, French, and British foreign ministers will meet with their Iranian counterpart.
According to news agencies citing diplomatic sources, the foreign ministers of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom will meet with their Iranian colleague in Geneva, Switzerland, on Friday.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul is in charge of the meeting, having recently altered his itinerary to Lebanon, Syria, and Israel to conduct crisis talks in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman in response to Israel's attacks on Iran last Friday.
Muscat, in particular, is said to have extremely strong links with Tehran and to have mediated in negotiations between the United States and Iran for almost two months prior to Israel's assault.
The meeting was allegedly coordinated with Washington.
Wadephul is planning to launch an effort involving the so-called E3 — Germany, France, and the United Kingdom — as well as neighboring Arab nations such as Oman in order to beget a diplomatic solution to the present issue.
It's never too late to come to the negotiating table, Wadephul told earlier in the day.
