Indian PM Modi Meets Australian Dy PM Marles; Lauds 5 Years Of Strategic Partnership

New Delhi: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles in the national capital for productive discussions to strengthen the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on its fifth anniversary.

During the debate, the leaders presented their views for a stable, secure, and prosperous Indo-Pacific area, emphasizing the deepening of bilateral relations between the two nations, with an emphasis on strengthening military and strategic cooperation in the face of regional security issues.

Earlier today, the Australian Deputy Prime Minister placed a wreath at the National War Memorial here, emphasizing the tribute to India's dead heroes.

Mr. Richard Marles, Australia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, paid a visit to the National War Memorial in New Delhi and placed a wreath in solemn honor of India's dead martyrs. The gesture highlights India and Australia's mutual respect, sacrifice, and increasing military cooperation, according to the Ministry of Defense.

Marles arrived in Delhi late on Tuesday night as part of his high-level engagements in the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and India from June 25, according to the Australian Defense Government statement.

The Deputy Prime Minister will meet with officials and colleagues in South and Southeast Asia as part of the government's effort to strengthen diplomatic and military connections in the Indo-Pacific.

Earlier today, he met with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to talk regional and global security concerns and strengthen defense collaboration between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Defence Minister highlighted India and Australia's close military cooperation and dedication to fight terrorism, while also recognizing the expanding strategic links between the two countries and thanking Australia for its assistance in the aftermath of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
