India, US Hold 2+2 Intersessional Dialogue; Focus On Critical Minerals Exploration, Defence Ties

New Delhi : A significant emphasis was placed on crucial mineral exploration as a key pillar of the IndiaUS 2+2 Intersessional Dialogue, which took place virtually on Monday. bilateral cooperation between the two countries, with government officials pledging to strengthen connections in this important area as well as in other areas like commerce, investment, and energy security, The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement that the areas of collaboration include civilian nuclear cooperation, counter-narcotics and counterterrorism cooperation.

The increasing collaboration between the two nations was highlighted in the conversation, with sophisticated discussions on important mineral exploration as well as other shared interests, such as trade and investment. Energy security with an emphasis on civilian nuclear cooperation, counter-narcotics, counter-terrorism, and defense cooperation.

This conversation allowed authorities to discuss developments in regional security, advance bilateral initiatives, and share viewpoints on a variety of shared strategic goals. According to the press release issued on Tuesday, they addressed a variety of topics, including trade and investment, energy security—including boosting cooperation on civil nuclear energy—essential minerals discovery, and collaboration on counterterrorism and counternarcotics.

One notable result was the pledge to improve defense collaboration, with both parties anticipating the conclusion of a new 10-year Framework for the India-US Major Defense Partnership.

In addition to enhancing operational coordination, regional cooperation, information sharing, and defense industrial, scientific, and technical cooperation, this framework also seeks to strengthen them.

The dialogue is based on the development of the IndiaUS COMPACT (Catalysing Opportunities for Military Partnership, Accelerated Commerce & Technology) program, which aims to influence the a partnership for the 21st century and beyond.
