Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik spoke on the phone with President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran today.
During their telephone talk, His Majesty the Sultan expressed condolences and sympathies to the Iranian President for the victims of the Israeli assaults on his country, condemning the damage done to infrastructure and facilities and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
His Majesty the Sultan stressed the need of both sides deescalating and returning to negotiations, dialogue, and understanding in order to prevent the specter of ongoing conflict and its terrible repercussions, preserving lives and resources.
His Majesty the Sultan also reiterated the commitment of the Sultanate of Oman's Government to actively assist in resolving this crisis, preventing its escalation, and establishing equitable and just settlements that restore normalcy, utilizing all political and diplomatic means.
For his part, the Iranian President acknowledged the sincere efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman's Government, led by His Majesty the Sultan, to bridge viewpoints and resolve disputes through peaceful means, thereby strengthening the foundations of security and peace and promoting stability and prosperity for all nations.
He emphasized that, while his country is under brutal Israeli assault, it supports diplomatic solutions through dialogue and negotiation, adheres to international law, respects state sovereignty, and calls on the international community to stand for justice and the rights of nations to self-defense.
