Dar Al Atta'a Association: Community Contribution For More Sustainable Family Life

Muscat: Charity is one of the most noble forms of social cohesion, representing compassion and unity among individuals and communities. It plays a critical role in enhancing family stability, fulfilling the needs of disadvantaged and vulnerable families, and ensuring a dignified and secure life. By promoting social cohesiveness and assisting socioeconomic progress, it provides a genuine system of hope for individuals, families, and communities.

Dar Al Atta'a Association, founded in 2002 and licensed officially in 2006, is Oman’s first charitable organisation. It has played a vital role in changing the lives of thousands of families across different governorates, enabling them to live sustainable and stable lives.

Maryam Issa Al Zadjali, Founder and Chairperson of Dar Al Atta'a Association, explained that the organization aims to help those in need through a variety of programs, including the Family Sponsorship Programme, Crisis Relief Programme, Education Programme, Disaster Relief and Management Programme, My Safe Home Program for housing construction and maintenance, Empowerment Program, Islamic Values Programme, and Let's Read Program.

In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), she stated that the association will set aside OMR4. 094 million for these initiatives in 2024, which are intended to provide living support and meet the basic needs of disadvantaged families. She mentioned that around OMR2. 038 million was spent on these projects in the first half of 2025.

Highlighting the value of innovation in charitable work, Al Zadjali revealed that Dar Al Atta'a has created a distinct Social Innovation Department to utilize new technology to expand its programs and serve the community. This department is anticipated to improve services, streamline processes, and increase the efficiency and quality of the association's work.

Regarding future projects, she stated that the organization intends to launch the second phase of the Dar Al Atta'ah Neighbourhood in AlKhaboura, which will include a mosque, community center, and commercial amenities. The project has 36 prototype residential units, each measuring 274 square meters, with solar energy systems and water treatment to demonstrate the idea of sustainable community housing.

To date, Dar Al Atta'a has delivered 175 homes to families throughout Oman and provided maintenance for more than 2,514 residences.

Maryam Al Zadjali reaffirmed the organization's dedication to increasing its support programs, strengthening ties with the government and business sectors, and contributing to sustainable development. These activities are intended to benefit Omani society and increase the role of voluntary charitable work in community service.
