Construction For Parts Of Sultan Said Bin Taimour Road Starts

Salalah: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology has announced the start of construction on the dual carriageway of Sultan Said bin Taimour Road for sections (3, 4, and 5), which will extend around 400 kilometers at a total cost of more than OMR 258 million.

Eng. Said Mohammed Tabook, Director General of Roads and Land Transport in Dhofar Governorate, informed the Oman News Agency (ONA) that the executing firms have started construction on the three sections, which will take 36 months to complete.

He clarified that Part 3 spans 132.5 kilometers from Haima to Maqshin, Part 4 is approximately 135 kilometers from Maqshin to Dokha, and Part 5 stretches 132. 5 kilometers from Dokha to Thumrait.

He also stated that the project would increase the efficiency of Oman's road network and improve connectivity between governorates.

The roadway is intended for year-round access in a variety of climatic situations, and it will enhance traffic safety with concrete/steel barriers, reflectors, road markings, and warning signs. It will also foster economic, tourism, commercial, and social growth.

Sultan Said bin Taimour Road is Oman’s longest dual carriageway, measuring around 857 kilometers. The ministry granted the remaining three components to specialised firms via an Omani-Saudi coalition.
