Air India Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Receiving Bomb Threat

India: On Friday, June 13, 2025, an Air India flight (AI 379) travelling from Phuket, Thailand, to New Delhi, India, made an emergency landing at Phuket International Airport.

The urgent landing was ordered by a bomb threat delivered onboard the aircraft shortly after takeoff. The airplane, carrying 156 people, safely returned to the Thai island. Airport officials verified that all passengers had been securely evacuated from the aircraft, and a preliminary investigation revealed no explosives.

The incident happened only one day after a different, unrelated Air India flight (AI 171, Ahmedabad to London Gatwick) crashed shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad, India, resulting in the tragic loss of over 240 lives. This emergency landing of AI 379 in Phuket occurs during increased vigilance in India's aviation industry due to a recent increase in bomb threats.
