Muscat: In collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources has initiated field tests to evaluate the effectiveness of drones in fighting desert locust infestations.
This initiative is part of the Ministry’s strategy to enhance contemporary aerial application methods for addressing locusts and other agricultural pests.
The objective of the event is to evaluate aerial application techniques, specifically those involving drones, and to promote their adoption as standard practices among the member nations of the Desert Locust Control Commissions.
The event featured participation from FAO specialists, along with representatives from both local and international firms that focus on the advancement of aerial spraying technology utilizing drones.
