Al Rustaq: The construction sector in South Al Batinah Governorate saw substantial increase in the first half of 2025, indicating faster urban development and real estate investment across the governorate's wilayats.
During this time, 3,289 significant construction permits were issued, up from 2,188 in the first half of 2024—a 50% increase rate and one of the strongest indicators of the sector's increased activity.
According to South Al Batinah Municipality, there are favorable trends in issued permits and completed projects, indicating the efficiency of development strategies and the high quality of services offered.
According to municipal data, Barka had the most significant construction permits issued in the governorate's wilayats in H1 2025, with 1,786 permits, indicating increased metropolitan activity. Following it were Al Musannah (634 permits), A'Rustaq (565), Wadi Al Maawil (127), Nakhal (125), and Al Awabi (52). These data show natural variances in urban demand while highlighting consistent growth across all areas.
New home building permits were the most common, accounting for 2,994 permits, followed by industrial (92), residential-commercial (85), agricultural (56), government (29), commercial (28), and tourist (5). Minor construction permits increased by 29%, from 214 in 2024 to 275 in 2025.
Building completion certificates increased by 51%, with 2,515 issued in the first half of 2025 compared to 1,665 in the same period the previous year.
