Portuguese Coach Queiroz Signs One-Year Deal To Lead Oman National Football Team

Muscat: The Oman Football Association (OFA) officially signed a one-year deal with Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz on Monday to coach the national football team, signaling the start of a new chapter ahead of a key period in the Asian qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup.

The official signing ceremony took place on Monday night at the OFA's technical headquarters. Sayyid Sulaiman bin Hamoud bin Ali Al Busaidi, Chairman of the OFA Board of Directors, signed the agreement on behalf of the association.

Despite the fact that Queiroz's appointment was validated last week, Monday's signature finalizes the agreement, putting the highly experienced coach in charge of the national team for the next year.

With a coaching career that includes high-profile roles with Portugal, Iran, Colombia, Egypt, and Qatar, the former Real Madrid manager has a plethora of foreign expertise and is expected to improve Oman's competitive position in the region.

Both the OFA and Queiroz have stated a common goal of leading the squad past the fourth round of Asian qualification and beyond, emphasizing consistency, tactical discipline, and youth development.

Queiroz will present his plan and vision for the squad during a news conference on August 5. The OFA termed the collaboration as a strategic move to improve the national squad's technical base and international competitiveness.

The one-year deal lays the foundation for what might be a crucial phase in Oman's football goals on the way to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Oman have been paired alongside hosts Qatar and UAE in the fourth round playoffs for Road to 26.
