Muscat: Emphasizing its position as the national carrier of the Sultanate, Oman Air achieved its busiest khareef season ever in 2025, transporting over 200,000 guests to Salalah from early June to late August. This achievement, reflecting a 15% rise compared to 2024, highlights the airline’s dedication to enhancing Oman’s tourism industry and facilitating more attractive domestic travel.
A significant contributor to the route’s success in the 2025 season was the increase in flights to as many as 14 per day, along with the use of widebody aircraft, which allowed Oman Air to boost capacity by up to 75% on select flights. The airline maintained its fixed national fare to ensure travel remains accessible and affordable for citizens, with over 70% of passengers during khareef benefiting from the OMR 54 return fare. Additionally, the OMR 64 fare is available throughout the year, demonstrating Oman Air’s commitment to making travel between Salalah and Muscat more accessible during both peak and off-peak seasons.
Ahmed Al Mahrouqy, Oman Air’s Vice President of Global Sales, stated, “We’re excited to witness the increasing number of visitors arriving in Salalah for the khareef season, and we are dedicated to fostering this growth annually. Oman Air takes pride in supporting national tourism objectives by connecting people, promoting the destination both locally and internationally, and collaborating with local communities to enhance the season’s vibrancy.”
Beyond the rise in passenger numbers, Oman Air further solidified its support for the region by sponsoring the Khareef Dhofar festival in collaboration with Dhofar Municipality. This partnership is part of the airline’s commitment to showcasing Oman’s cultural and natural heritage, enhancing inbound tourism, and elevating the country’s status as a premier destination in the region.
