Muscat: The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has officially introduced the National Health Insurance Platform, known as Dhamani, which aims to provide digital solutions for regulating the health insurance sector in Oman.

This platform serves as a comprehensive electronic system that streamlines the sharing of health insurance data and claims between insurance providers and private healthcare facilities.

During a press conference to announce the Dhamani platform, His Excellency Abdullah bin Salem Al Salmi, CEO of the FSA, elaborated on the platform's regulatory functions.

Al Salmi emphasized the platform's capabilities and benefits in enhancing the health insurance framework in the Sultanate of Oman, positively influencing all stakeholders in the insurance ecosystem, including policyholders and healthcare institutions.

He stated that the Dhamani platform signifies a significant advancement in the Omani health insurance landscape, utilizing digital transformation to regulate this essential sector, improve citizens' access to healthcare services, and promote insurance inclusivity.

Additionally, he mentioned that the platform demonstrated its digital efficiency and effectiveness during its initial pilot phase.

His Excellency reported that during the first quarter of 2025, nearly 3 million health insurance transactions were processed through the platform by insurance companies and private healthcare providers. Currently, the platform is connected to all insurance entities, around 33 private hospitals, and 3 private health complexes.

Al Salmi highlighted that this platform aims to resolve numerous challenges faced by stakeholders in the insurance sector, ensuring the delivery of high-quality health insurance services and timely payments to private healthcare institutions by insurance companies. Additionally, it will create a comprehensive database of diseases, diagnoses, and treatments, allowing relevant authorities to perform essential studies for the advancement of the health sector.

His Excellency noted that the platform serves over 650,000 health insurance policyholders, with a data exchange rate of approximately 40,000 transactions daily.

Al Salmi further explained that a nominal fee will be charged to hospitals to support the platform's development and to cover its construction expenses, which totaled OMR 1.6 million.
