Madrid: Real Madrid CF legend and captain Luka Modric has decided to end his remarkable tenure as a player at Los Blancos after the Club World Cup, which begins on June 18 in the United States.

During his more than decade-long journey, the Croatian master created several unforgettable moments that have been recorded in the Spanish giants' golden history. He joined Real Madrid in 2012 and will leave with 28 trophies, including six European Cups, six Club World Cups, five European Super Cups, four LaLiga titles, two Copas del Rey, and five Spanish Super Cups.

The moment has come. The day I never wanted to arrive, but that is life, and everything has a beginning and conclusion. On Saturday, I'll perform my final game at the Santiago Bernabeu. Playing for Real Madrid transformed my life as a football player and as a person. I am pleased to have been a part of one of the most successful periods in the greatest club in history, Modric remarked on Instagram.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to the club, especially President Florentino Perez, my colleagues, coaches, and everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. Although I will no longer wear this jersey on the pitch after the Club World Cup, I will always be a Madridista, he stated.

The 39-year-old is one of only five players in football history to win six European Cups, and the player with the most trophies in Real Madrid's long history.

Modric received football's most prestigious award, the Ballon d'Or, as well as the FIFA The Best Men's Player and UEFA Men's Player of the Year awards in 2018. He has been selected to the FIFA FIFPro World XI six times and named Champions League Best Midfielder twice. Modric played 590 games for Real Madrid, scoring 43 goals, in what has been a career defining career. He has also won the Club World Cup Golden and Silver Balls.

Luka Modric will always be remembered in the hearts of all Real Madrid supporters as a one-of-a-kind and outstanding player who has always exemplified the club's principles. His football has enthralled Real Madrid supporters as well as fans worldwide. His legacy will live on forever, according to Real Madrid President Florentino Perez in a club statement.
