Biotechnology Oversight Committee Holds Meeting

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman's Oversight Committee for Biotechnology held its third meeting today, chaired by Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation.

During the meeting, the committee focused on the most recent updates on the implementation of decisions made at its second meeting. This involved the critical task of fulfilling the National Biotechnology Strategy's preparation criteria in line with the approved work plan, as well as finalizing the appointment procedures for the specialized consultant tasked with creating the strategy.

The request for consultancy services was recently published via the electronic system of the Projects, Tenders, and Local Content Authority.

Dr. Kawther Ibrahim Al Balushi, Project Manager for the National Biotechnology Strategy, gave a visual presentation to the committee members. She presented a thorough plan for executing the project's final phase and acknowledged the contributions of different national committees and teams in this regard.

Coinciding with the third meeting of the Biotechnology Oversight Committee, a cooperation program was initiated and executed to finance the assignment of a consultant for the National Biotechnology Strategy project. This agreement was signed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, and OMIFCO, the project's funding entity.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation; Dr. Khamis Saif Al Jabri on behalf of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit; and Khalid Sulaiman Al Farsi, OMIFCO Director General of Supply Chain.
