Muscat: On Wednesday, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism signed a contract in Muscat with the National Travel Operator to create and implement a comprehensive digital platform.
This initiative will allow licensed Omani independent tourist guides to directly present their services and experiences to tourists. Furthermore, it will ensure that these offerings are promoted both locally and internationally through global distribution channels.
The project is divided into two primary phases. The first phase focuses on preparing and developing digital content for tourist experiences. This involves crafting professional descriptions and equipping guides with the necessary instructions and tools to create high-quality visual content. Additionally, the content will be optimized to align with the standards of search engines and global booking platforms.
The second phase entails the launch of the digital platform itself. This platform will be directly connected to global distribution channels and will include an integrated booking system, support in both Arabic and English, as well as electronic payment services. It will also offer guides a dedicated portal to manage their content and experiences.
Moreover, the project encompasses a thorough digital marketing strategy that includes advertising campaigns across various digital platforms, promotion on global booking sites, and enhanced visibility on search engines. This will boost the presence of Omani tourist experiences and elevate booking rates.
The contract was signed on behalf of the Ministry by Azzan Qasim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, and on behalf of the operator by Shabib bin Mohammed Al Maamari, General Manager of the National Travel Operator.
